Craig March 26th, 2007
Acclaimed portrait and wedding photographer Monte Zucker has recently passed away after a battle with cancer. Known for his innovative approach to photography over a 50 year career, he is widely credited as the pioneer of using classic studio portraiture techniques on location at weddings. He remained involved with photographer until the end, attending Imaging USA in January 2007, and receiving a distinguished service award at PMA 2007. In 2002 he was honored by the United Nations as Portait Photographer of the year. Prior to his passing, he launched the Zucker Institute for Photographic Inspiration, dedicated to helping at-risk youth become involved with photography as a means for inspiring a better life and possibly career.
His aim was always to capture a moment in people’s lives and memorialize it. In his own words - ““I don’t photograph the world as it is. I photograph the world as I would like it to be.”
