The caption for series of photos that feature boats with lots of lights hanging from the superstructure says that these boats are "equipped for night fishing." This is true, although these boats are specifically usesd for fishing squid. At night these vessels will turn on these lights resulting in extremely bright illumination (as bright as lights at a football stadium). The squid, which are attracted to these lights, swim toward the fishing vessels and are scooped out of the water. At night, in areas where squid are being fished, you might see ten or fifteen squid vessels with their lights on within the horizon and you might see the same number of lumes of such vessels beyond the horizon.
