Shih Ming-teh

Shih Ming-teh (施明德), spent 25 years as a political prisoner under the KMT, half of them in solitary confinement. Following his release, he was elected leader of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), a post he served for 2 years and served as a legislator on three occasions. In 2006 he led the “Million Voices Against Corruption” AKA “red shirt army”, a series of protests and sit-ins both in Taipei and around the country.
