What a fine looking bird. Strix aluco, or tawny owl, is a medium sized bird, commonly found in woodlands across Eurasia, from Taiwan, China and Korea in the east to Britain, the Iberian peninsula and Northern Africa in the west. A nocturnal bird of prey, the tawny owl feeds on rodents, although in urban areas will also eat other birds.
