Hi Craig, am all set and itching for the games to start, luckly have gor tickets for the opening and closing ceremonies in different positions in the stadium. Also shall be attending the Rugby 7's on the 25th whether that is for photographing or a few beers have yet to decide. Also plan to take my daughter along to the arena to see some indoor events but am unsure if she will allow me the time to photograph, troublesome three year olds and photography just do not mix hahaha. Are you planning on coming down for any of the events, if so drop me a mail and see if we can hook up.

Great read Craig, also another point to consider is also the varying darkness of night you can also see. Just after sunset can provide some great lighting and also I have found that during a typhoon season you'll see alot of cloud formation rather than just plain night sky. These often work well as a contrast the the main focal point of the image and sometimes can enhance an everday subject.

Awesome tips, Craig. Night shots can be a real challenge. Your post comes just in time. I spent a bit of time trying to improve my night photography when we were in Singapore. I'm happy with the shots I took, but now I know what to improve on.
