Saturday July 18th 2009 saw the first ever Taipei Photowalk, held as part of the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk. I served as leader for a group of 50 or so photographers wandering through the streets in Xinyi district, Taipei. Our group was truly multicultural – we had members from Taiwan, India, Australia, Vietnam, Scotland, Poland, USA, England, France, South Africa, Guatemala, New Zealand, Canada and probably a couple more countries that I’ve forgotten. All in all, it was a fun few hours of photography, catching up with old friends, meeting new friends, conversation, Tex-Mex food, walking, laughing, ice cream and a little stress. For all photowalkers in the group, don’t forget to upload your 2 photos before next Saturday. I’ll post the winning entry next week which will get sent to the international contest. Finally, a big thanks to Alan and all the crew at Yuma for the great food and use of the big room.
I found myself too busy chatting and trying to keep track of people so barely shot any photos. Here are a few I did manage to get. All were shot on a Canon 5D Mark II with 17-40mm f4L lens and a 580EX II speedlight as a fill flash. As always, click for the larger image.
WOW! Great job, Craig. I like the first one best, but these are all fantastic. I had a lot of fun on Saturday and it was great to meet everyone. Thanks for your advice, encouragement and hard work!
I love the second photo. I saw some people in our group took this lobby but I couldn't think that lobby could be nice as in your shot. Great job.
Thank you very much for organizing the walk. I will never forget this memory.
Thanks Carrie. I'm glad you liked the Photowalk and had fun. A special thank you to you for what we were talking about for the workshops – you've given me some extra ideas.
Many thanks. It was a cool looking lobby. Next time I'm in the area I might take a few more. I'm glad you enjoyed yourself at Photowalk.
Hi Craig. I like the first one too. I was right behind Ray when you took that shot
Thanks for leading the photowalk. It was immense fun.
Thanks Ashish, I'm glad you enjoyed the walk. It was good to see you.
Is there eventually going to be somewhere where we will be able to look at everyone's photos from that day or just our best photos?
I think the easiest way is to follow everyones links to their Flickr sets. I'm thinking of posting a few of the best after I choose the winner, but even 50 people times 2 photos is a lot to look at.
Great pics, photojazz, my friend. Go get bread, cheese for kids.
Thanks, although photojazz isn't me.
Here's an interactive 360 degree panorama of all the photowalkers that day. tr.im/txdP
Thanks for the 360 pano Teo. That's a very cool photo. Glad you could make it last Saturday.
What a great idea. I particularly like the third shot in the series, with the woman's look of surprise!
Thanks Andrew. Glad you could drop by.
