A contact sheet is useful for a photographer to be able to deliver a selection of images to a client for review before a final decision is made on which image to go with. Having the ability to put together a collection of photos from a shoot and quickly email them to a client for overview is handy for the working photographer. The contact sheet shown here allows the viewer to see content of 40 different photos yet is only 152kb in size. Putting one together is a pretty simple exercise. Here’s how to do it in Lightroom 2.
- Select the images you want to include using whatever method best fits your workflow. You might use flags, labels, quick collections or some other method.
- Move into the Print module, and choose one of the contact sheet options in the Template Browser found in the left panel. The example above uses a “5×8 Contact Sheet”.
- In the Print Job panel on the right, select Print to : JPEG File if you plan to email your contact sheet, otherwise choose Printer to : Printer.
- In the Page Setup dialog, choose the orientation. If you’re printing you can also choose paper, printer and so forth. Set your dimensions and either print or save to file.
That’s all there is to it. A quick and easy method to show lots of proof images.
