What do you get when you bring seven of the world’s leading photographers together in one place for a series of workshops, conferences, speaking events, photo competitions and more? Creative Asia is the answer and it is taking place over 5 days in January 2011 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is one event you definitely do not want to miss.
There are a number of different workshops taking place over the course of the event. Everything from a beginners DSLR class led to Anne Cahill from Nikon, to Dane Sanders’ Fast Track Photographer Workshop and Joe McNally’s Hot Shoe Diaries class, there’s something for all levels of photographer. I flew to Malaysia in January 2010 for one of Joe’s day long workshops and promise you that they’re worth every penny.
A three day photography conference will be taking place as part of Creative Asia. The first day (January 19th) will be a day long live judging of the first Creative Asia print competition. Day 2 opens with a keynote from Joe McNally and continues with Manny Librodo on post-processing, a four photographer discussion on overcoming the odds, wedding photographer and filmmaker Jason Magbunua on how he balances business with art. The fifth session of the day will feature three speakers going head to head in a live shootoff moderated by Joe McNally.
Day three begins with Michael Greenberg on reinventing group photography, Dane Sanders on standing out from the crowd and Louis Pang on how to buck trends. The conference concludes with an awards night fro Creative Asia photographer of the year.
The Creative Asia Awards, sponsored by Canon, features a number of different categories with the top 25 images in each going on to the final live judging day of the Creative Asia conference. Each online entry will receive feedback from the judges so even if you don’t make it to the final round, you can still get some great benefits. Entries close on December 10th 2010.
There are a few different registration offers and discounts available, so check out the Creative Asia website or their Facebook page for the latest promotional prices. Workshops especially sell out fast, so get in early to secure your spot.
