The weekend saw the inauguration of Taiwan’s President Ma Ying-jeou for his second term following his comfortable victory in the presidential elections back in January. The opposition party called their supporters out onto the streets in what was hoped to be a massive anti-government protest aimed at expressing their dissatisfaction with the government. According to the official police estimates, 38 000 people braved the rain, marching from 3 locations to a central meeting point for a series of speeches throughout the evening. I covered the march in my role as (occasional) news photographer for a UK agency. Here are a few of the images.
