Recent Work – The Guitar Man of Shilin
Buffing a guitar body.
A recent piece I photographed and wrote for the Taiwan Culture Portal was published the other day. The Guitar Man of Shilin looks at Taiwanese-American luthier Tai Wei-fu and his newly established custom guitar shop Yang Ming Custom Guitars. The article traces his story regarding how he got started, his first attempts at building guitars and some of the difficulties he has faced along the way. There are only a handful of luthiers in Taiwan making what he does a somewhat unique niche in the music market. Here are a couple of photos from the article.
