Selection of news photo blogs

While the digital age and the advent of the internet has undoubtedly had an adverse affect on traditional print journalism, one of the benefits of it has been the rise of the news photo blog. Most of the major news organizations and publications now offer regular photoblogs, made up of images from different sources, be it their own in-house photographers, assignment photographers or wire-service imagery. These photoblogs don’t just appeal to other photographers, instead attracting people with a wide variety of interests on a regular basis by showcasing imagery from all over the world. With the recent introduction of devices such as the Apple iPad, the future for these photoblogs looks bright. Here are nine photoblogs that should be on the viewing list of all photographers.

5 For Friday – Bits and Pieces http://www.craigfergusonimages.com/2009/05/5-for-friday-bits-and-pieces/ http://www.craigfergusonimages.com/2009/05/5-for-friday-bits-and-pieces/#comments Thu, 21 May 2009 22:00:22 +0000 cfimages http://www.craigfergusonimages.com/?p=803

Another week, another edition of 5. Things are a little different this week. I’ve got 5 bits and pieces to share, so lets get into things. Read on after the jump.

return of bob log + homo jews_web

Firstly, as you can see from the picture above, Bob Log III is returning to Taipei. It promises to be a great show so get your tickets early at the usual places. More info at the gig’s Facebook page.

Up next, there’s a Craig Ferguson Images page on Facebook. Many of you have already seen it but if you haven’t, pop on over and become a fan.

Third is the announcement of Scott Kelby’s 2nd Annual Photowalk. Last year saw over 8000 photographers in 236 cities (47 countries) take more than 1 million photos. For my readers in Taiwan, I’m looking for people interested in joining a Taipei photowalk. The date will be Saturday July 18th – let me know ASAP if you want to join and I’ll send in the free application. UPDATE We’ve been approved as an official photowalk location. Details to come.

General growth over the past few months, as well as last weeks appearence on Digg has seen this site become too big for its current host. Rather than risk future outages, this site will be moving to a new hosting company at the end of the month. I’ll make a further announcement closer to the time. Until then, I won’t be posting a lot of new content, but will search out a couple of hidden gems from the archives.

And finally, I had to change my phone (cell) number. If you didn’t get the message with the new number and want it, let me know. Thanks.
